Stelliers on Tour: A Sense of Renewal in Beijing

During a recent visit to Beijing, Stelliers Co-Founder Stéphane de Montgros spent time with hotelier friends in the capital during the week of the Auto China 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.

Cameron Cundle, Managing Director, The Peninsula Beijing

The atmosphere was buzzing, and the city felt unmistakably energised, not only from the activity surrounding the exhibition, but from a broader sense that positive momentum has been building over the first few months of the year. Many hoteliers also spoke of preparing for a significant number of diplomatic delegations in the weeks ahead, adding to a feeling of strong activity across the market.

Christina Yang, General Manager, Waldorf Astoria Beijing

Chi Ping Xu, Managing Director, Rosewood Beijing

What was particularly encouraging was hearing that international leisure business is beginning to make a comeback as well. Taken together, these signals paint a picture of a market regaining confidence.

Anthony Smekens, General Manager Bvlgari Hotel Beijing

Pieter Ham, General Manager, EAST Beijing

Of course, optimism in hospitality tends to come with perspective these days. The conversations were grounded in a confidence shaped by everything the industry has learned in recent years. After a period in which caution has often defined decision-making, it was heartening to hear many reasons to be cautiously optimistic. And at Stelliers, we remain convinced that when confidence is paired with the calibre of hoteliers driving a market like Beijing, there is every reason to look ahead positively.

Lili Wong, General Manager, Four Seasons Hotel Beijing

Andy Chang, General Manager, Grand Hyatt Beijing at Oriental Plaza

Thank you to everyone who made time to meet and share perspectives so openly. We look forward to continuing the conversation soon.

Kenneth Gao, General Manager, Conrad Beijing
