2015

In 2015, The Hotelier Awards – now known as Stelliers – underwent a transformation with a new logo that signified its growth as a burgeoning industry platform. The second edition of the awards ceremony was held at the luxurious Four Seasons Beijing, where exceptional hospitality professionals from all across China were recognised for their passion and contribution to the industry. The night was made even more memorable with the arrival of the Red Carpet Lady, adding a touch of glamour to the already spectacular event. This milestone cemented the platform’s reputation as the go-to platform for honouring outstanding hoteliers in the industry, further solidifying its position as the premier recognition platform in Asia.

Award Won in 2015: Food & Beverage Hotelier of the Year

Heiko Roeder's passion for exploration and cultural understanding was ignited in childhood when he dreamed of travelling the world. After graduating from hotel school, Heiko embarked on his journey into hospitality as a commis tournant. His hard work and dedication to the craft saw him ascend through the ranks of the industry, allowing him to experience some remarkable destinations such as Vietnam, China (including Hong Kong), the Marianas Islands, the Middle East and Singapore.

It has been more than two decades since Heiko found himself immersed in international hospitality management. Through each unique opportunity he encountered new people who further inspired his love of travel while gaining valuable knowledge applicable across cultures, which allowed him to progress ever higher within this dynamic field. Here are three experiences that have particularly impacted his career trajectory.

The first of these experiences was working with a dedicated team to successfully open Capella Sydney in March 2023. This marked the expansion of the Capella brand into Australia, and Heiko was thrilled to be part of it. The hotel is located in a stunning Sandstone Precinct Heritage landmark building, and the team worked tirelessly to create an unforgettable guest experience. Together, they succeeded in creating a memorable and luxurious atmosphere that will leave a lasting impression on all who visit.

Another career highlight for Heiko was the opportunity to spend months laying the operational groundwork with the team at Patina Maldives. This was the Capella Group's launch of the Patina brand in the Fari Islands, and the property went on to acquire the coveted Forbes Travel Guide 5-Star Rating. Heiko was proud to have been a part of the team that made this happen, and he learned valuable lessons about the importance of teamwork, communication, and attention to detail in achieving success.

Finally, Heiko was responsible for the operations excellence and bottom line of 17 food and beverage outlets in the ultra-luxurious One&Only Royal Mirage, Dubai. This was one of the most challenging experiences of his career, but also one of the most rewarding. Heiko was able to lead a team that provided exceptional service and helped create unforgettable memories for guests from all over the world. His leadership and dedication to excellence were instrumental in making the One&Only Royal Mirage a premier destination for discerning travellers.
