Andrew Xiao - Director of Security

Hello everyone, I'm the Security Director of Niccolo Chengdu. My name is Xiao Hongkuo, my English name is Andrew. It's my great honour and pleasure for me to share with you the dedication of a hotel Security Director. I’ve been in the hotel security industry for 18 years, I have always believed that true security is never flamboyant but omnipresent, and true heroes may not be famous but are always on duty.

I joined the Kowloon Hotel Group in June 2014 and took on the position of Security Director at Niccolo Chengdu. I have always been committed to building a unique security system that is warm and welcoming, that holds the bottom line, and is integrated into service.

We take precautions before they happen by establishing a comprehensive safety protection network. Our team adheres to the principle of prevention first, technology empowerment, and full participation. Through an intelligent security system early risk warning mechanisms and regular emergency drills, we eliminate potential safety hazards before they can happen.

In our eyes, security is not just ice-cold access control and patrols. It's a warm greeting in the morning, a signpost guiding the way for late-night guests, and an umbrella held up for them in a downpour. My team is not only vigilant guardians but also trustworthy partners for our guests.

In addition, we take collaborative governance as the core and integrating safety into the hotel culture. I always promote to all staff the concept of safety, breaking down departmental barriers, and closely collaborating with teams such as the front office, housekeeping, F&B, and engineering, so that every colleague becomes the first person responsible for safety.

Robert Cousins – General Manager

On behalf of our entire team here, we are so delighted and grateful that Andrew has been nominated as a finalist for the Unsung Hero. What a great guy! What a great example for our team. As a Director of Security, always putting the safety and security of our entire team and our guests at the forefront. Great team player, amazing collaborator with our local agencies and bureaus, everything that you could really hope for and wish for in a position like this. And we're greatly appreciative for Andrew. We wish him all the best! We think he's a great, great finalist and we look forward to celebrating with him!

Terry Zheng – Director of Rooms

Andrew has always maintained a passionate and unwavering dedication to the hotel. His meticulous attention to detail, his ability to anticipate problems before they occur, and his professional efficiency in handling emergencies have played a crucial role in ensuring the hotel's safe operation at all times. Additionally, Andrew has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills, effectively guiding and supporting the security department staff to provide efficient services to guests.

He remains calm under great pressure and makes wise decisions when challenging situations arise. He has helped the hotel achieve a record of zero major accidents in the past ten years since its opening.

This honour today does not belong to me alone. It belongs to every security colleague who stands guard late into the night, patrols in the wind and rain, and quietly dedicates themselves to their ordinary posts. In the future, we will continue to build on professionalism, shield with responsibility, and illuminate with warmth, to safeguard the warm home of Niccolo Chengdu. Because anonymity is our choice, and protection is our vow.
