At The Peninsula Bangkok, Pornchai Savatsri, affectionately known as Captain Paul, is a true Unsung Hero.

For more than 25 years, he has cared for guests as a Boat Captain, creating a warm and seamless experience from the moment they arrive at Sathorn Pier. His dedication has built relationships that span generations, with returning guests and their children still remembering him years later.

Captain Paul’s impact also reaches far beyond the river. By sharing his skills, experience and knowledge, he has helped young people from his local community begin and build their careers at the hotel. Today, both of the hotel’s boats are operated by colleagues he helped bring into the team and train.
